You might be wondering: what is a virtual airline? The answer is simple: A virtual airline is a team of flight simulator pilots who simulate the operation of a real airline—primarily from the pilots' perspective. What unites us all is our unconditional and devoted love for flying.

Malév VA strives to provide its pilots with the most realistic experience possible within the limitations of flight simulation software. Being a virtual commercial pilot is not just a hobby—it is a real challenge. You must follow real-world air traffic procedures, execute real operational instructions, all while dealing with real-time weather conditions. Malév VA "transports passengers" in the spirit of the former Malév, meaning our pilots fly all aircraft types and schedules that were ever part of Malév’s real fleet.

What does this mean? Imagine a sunny summer afternoon when Malév flight 522 from Budapest to Frankfurt lifts off the runway, retracts its landing gear, and begins climbing to cruising altitude. At home, in real-time and under real weather conditions, you can experience the same.

Our operations are based on the Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004: A Century of Flight (FS9) software, as well as the international air traffic networks VATSIM and IVAO. These networks enhance the experience for FS pilots by allowing them to interact not only with other pilots from around the world but also with "on-duty" air traffic controllers—who are also connected from their home computers—further increasing the realism. Over the years, many home-based pilots have gone on to become real commercial pilots.
